About

Game Play

In Pathfinder, players create characters with unique abilities, skills, and backgrounds using a detailed character creation system. The game is usually guided by a Game Master (GM) who narrates the story and controls the non-player characters (NPCs) and world. Players take turns describing their actions, which are resolved using dice rolls, primarily a twenty-sided die (d20), to determine the outcome of actions such as combat, skill checks, and saving throws. The game features complex combat systems, extensive spellcasting options, and a variety of rules for exploration and interaction.

Game history

The Pathfinder game was first published by Paizo Publishing in 2009 as a response to changes in the Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition rules. It was developed by Jason Bulmahn and is based on the 3.5 Edition of D&D. The game was designed to offer a more detailed and customizable experience compared to the new edition of D&D.

It has since become a major player in the tabletop RPG industry, with multiple editions, expansions, and a rich game world. The second edition of the game was released in 2019, introducing updated mechanics and new content.
